Our lives have changed pretty dramatically over the course of the last year or so.

One of the most positive changes that we’ve experienced has been a result of our relationship with a refugee family, so I was thrilled when we were asked to take some photos at San Diego Refugee Tutoring, a tutoring center started by a group of educators who attend Harbor Mid-City with me and Amy, which provides after school tutoring to the children of refugees and their families in City Heights. Each Monday night, between 4:30 and 6pm, volunteers from around San Diego come to Ibarra Elementary School and help students with their homework, teach adults conversational English, and provide child care for younger kids. If you’re looking for a way to give back in San Diego, this is a great one.

We’re happy that Jenn and Tyler’s engagement session was recently featured on TheSoho (The Southern Hostess), a style, food, and fashion blog. We’re especially excited because it’s a blog that Amy really likes-it’s got fun recipes and unexpected shopping ideas, plus she’s got a knack for tracking things down…like Jenn’s dress.

Amy and I are really excited to show you the newest addition to Reams Photo. No mom-not that kind of addition (but we had you fooled for a second, didn’t we?). Instead, we’re pleased to announce that we’ll no longer be providing digital images on a CD; we’ll now be providing them to you on a 4 gigabyte USB flash drive. The flash drive you’ll receive is more durable and portable, it’ll be compatible with both PC and Mac (even the Macbook Air), and-let’s be honest-they’re just cool. Really cool.

As you saw in Tyler and Jenn’s engagement portrait preview, for their engagement session we headed east to Julian. Tyler, who coaches baseball at a local college, had never been to Julian before, but Jenn, Amy, and I regaled him with tales of beautiful golden fields and even more beautiful and delicious apple pies. Also, apparently, very vigilant parking enforcement!

It was really fun to hang out with Jenn and Tyler for the afternoon-it’s a joy to spend time with people who are so obviously in love.  I hope that you enjoy the photos!

On the drive back into Julian, we found a Little League baseball field and thought that given Tyler’s profession, it would be a good place to stop for some portraits.

And, back in Julian, we ordered an apple pie for Jenn and Tyler. They were kind enough to share with us-it was probably one of the best apple pies that I’ve had.
