Gaby and Brandon | Engaged

As you might have seen in their engagement session preview, we had a blast with Gaby and Brandon. We met in Solana Beach and walked down to one of our favorite sites for beach photos…only to find that there was no beach. High tide had pretty much eliminated the sand, and we were left with a 6 or 8 foot stretch of sand and cliffs. But let’s get back to that in a moment.

Surprisingly enough, as San Diego Photographers, we’ve gotten few requests for beach shots.  We’d like to think it’s because our city is changing  and becoming more sophisticated, but it’s probably because of those horrible family beach shots we all took in 6th grade.  When we first met Gaby and Brandon over hot chocolate by a roaring fire (sophistication in San Diego, what?), the beach was the first idea tossed around as a portrait location and Amy jumped on it.  And kept running…

We are so lucky to get the couples we do and Gaby and Brandon epitomize this.  It’s easy to make people look in love who are in love.  Really in love.  We figured this out somewhere around the first kissing shot when Brandon said “you’re not really kissing me.”  So this happened.

Somewhere along the way, Amy mentioned getting wet to Gaby and Brandon.  Not only were they willing, they bought the perfect outfits and practically jumped in head first.  It was COLD, pretty choppy, and we had gathered quite a crowd by the end.  But we think the result kicks the pants off those 6th grade beach shots.

Amy Gray - I’m stuck on the ring shot. I will go on to the others when I can breathe again.
