Tyler’s Book Jacket-Vote Now!

Amy’s brother, Tyler, recently returned from a, well, from an epic journey. For his 21st birthday, Ty, who had no traveling experience, set out on his own to travel to 21 countries over three months. He started off in England and Scotland, spent Good Friday in Jerusalem, and traveled throughout Europe and the Middle East during his trip. Throughout his travels, Tyler maintained a blog detailing his travels and his own spiritual journey for his readers around the country and around the world. Since returning, he has been working on compiling his blog entries into a book that will soon be published (Incidentally, I think that this may be the longest single work ever written entirely on a Blackberry).

Amy and I have been trying to help Tyler with cover art for the new book, so this weekend we took some photos with the hat that he wore throughout the trip, the compass that he kept with him at all times, and a set of traintracks at sunset. These aren’t all of the images, but they are 4 that we like. We’d love to have our readers help Tyler decide about his cover art, please let your voice be heard on the poll and leave your justification in the comments section.

Deborah Gilbert - I liked the first picture the best.

Katie Dupuis - I like #2 the best for a book cover. #1 is nice, but it’s a little gray and maybe not attention grabby for a book cover. #’s 3 + 4 look like maybe he got run over by a train. # 2 has good contrast and is off center so you could have whatever writing there’ll be on the cover in the lower right side. I think it looks more interesting.

Jess - I vote # 2

Portland | Corporate Portrait-Danny

Danny’s daughter has been featured on the blog and on the website before-she’s Morgan, senior portrait star from earlier this year. Morgan is heading off to college now, and her dad, Danny, needed some new corporate portraits taken for his Portland-based business. Amy and I were happy to oblige, and glad to see that Danny was a great photo subject as well.

Danny and his wife Cheri were also celebrating their 25 year wedding anniversary, so Amy and I snuck her into a few of the photos while we were out and turned it into a mini-portrait session with the two of them.

Things went so smoothly-the light was beautiful at the beach…

and Danny and Cheri are such a cute and playful couple…

Scripps Aquarium Seaside Forum Photos

Amy and I were thrilled to do some promotional photography for Scripps Aquarium this week. The aquarium is opening a new venue for weddings, the Robert Paine Scripps Seaside Forum, which is absolutely beautiful. The architecture is gorgeous, and the view…well, it’s on the La Jolla Coast and overlooks the Scripps Pier. Enough said, right?

As you know from the preview images that we shared earlier this week, we were privileged to have good friends Jason and Sarah model for us as we tried to take images that showcased the beautiful facility. What we’ll share here are some of our favorites, and when the final images hit magazines we’ll make sure to share those with you as well.

Aquarium Preview Part II

So, I’ll consolidate all of these at some point, but it’s fun to share them as we process them. It’s been a tiring week-a wide variety of photographic opportunities-but we’ve really been enjoying ourselves and I’m proud of the work that we’re producing. Here are two more from the Scripps shoot that we had on Friday.
