I’ve changed a lot since our wedding.  We’ve changed a lot.  We’ve changed our hair (well, just Amy), we live in a new city, we’ve relaxed into who we are as a couple, and we have new places that are special to us.  Who says that you have to take pictures of your wedding and then not again until you have children?  I love to capture the romance of couples celebrating who they are now- just the two of them.

We got to do that this weekend in Julian with John and Jessica.  They’ve been married for more than a year, just bought their first house, and are as cute as ever.  We went partly for the colors, but who needs fall colors when you have such a gorgeous and photogenic couple!  We love this session…. hope you do too.

The Baby Cousin or The Sweetest Thing

While I went to the U2 show at the Rose Bowl on Sunday, Amy spent the afternoon with her family in Long Beach. All right, I probably got the better end of the deal; however, Amy did bring her camera and take some photographs of her adorable little cousin. I love the vintage and antique-y feel that Amy generated in these portraits.

So, next time that the greatest rock band in the world comes, I’ll take my wife. On the other hand, Amy got to spend time with a baby cousin that I’d never met and take some really beautiful portraits. And I haven’t gotten “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” out of my head since the concert.

Zack Curry - Wow Amy these are so good! You really have a gift. Can’t wait to have you and Paul do our family photo’s! Was so great to see you on Saturday.

Melissa Curry - Thank you so much for capturing this beautiful moment with Olivia. You really have a gift! A picture speaks a thousand words.

Irene Frankhouse - Waaaay cute…..love the last one!!

Hands and Rings

Anna and her family are very dear to Amy and I, and a couple weeks ago, we were pleased to take some photos of Anna and her grandfather. When Anna was married last summer, as her “something old” she chose to wear her grandmothers wedding band on her right hand. Anna’s father asked Amy and I to photograph Anna, wearing her ring, along side her grandfather, who still wears his.

It’s tough to capture such a sentimental and beautiful moment without taking a few silly photos as well. Amy and I love this one of Grandpa!

Jason Williams - Great photos. I think hands are hard to photograph like they are to draw, but these do a great job of capturing the rings, the people, and the relationship.

My favorites are the horizontal hands on knee, where the jeans make a nice vivid backdrop, and the holding hands shot, which really captures the idea.

Thanks. This is the kind of photo distant relatives ask about in 100 years, and in getting, or just seeking out, the back story, keep close the memory of the people pictured.
