Weddings are generally about so much more than the couple’s interest in each other. There’s the love of the families, the gravity of the vows, the pomp and circumstance. Good things, all, but it’s actually quite rare for our couples to spend any more time together than the formal pictures, which is why we work so hard to make sure that a few minutes of those are protected for our couples to just breathe together. That space is such a beautiful luxury on a day busy with so much other beauty. Khai, though. What a groom. He secretly set up what felt like a million surprises for Hue (and their guests) throughout the day, just so she knew he was thinking of her the whole time. While she was getting ready, he (and their fabulous coordinator Paige) set up armfuls of Kate Spade gift boxes filled with bags, jewelry, and perfume for Hue, her mom, and her girls. In one of the boxes for Hue was an original of Hue’s favorite painting, portraying a wedding of course. Everyone was breathless. He set up hand painted (by himself) ceramic plates showcasing their favorite milestones and memories for their reception table. He had a team of Lion dancers secretly follow them out during their grand entrance to the reception. Then he had his groomsmen back him up to “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You.” And the thing was, I don’t think he did take his eyes off of her all day. What an honor to photograph such a celebration of love!
